Orange Officially Begins Preparations for 2009 Season
The Syracuse women's lacrosse squad held its first practice session of 2009 today in the Carrier Dome. The Orange returns nine starters and 18 letterwinners from last year's team that recorded the most successful season in the program's history.

Men`s Lacrosse Opens 2009 With Annual Media Day
The Orange men's lacrosse team hit the field today for the start of the 2009 season. Syracuse practiced at the Carrier Dome in the morning and then held its annual Media Day. Head coach John Desko previewed the upcoming campaign in his introductory news conference and the student-athletes participated in interviews and posed for pictures. Access To Health Care For 10-19 Aged Children Lacking
U.S. residents between ages 10 and 19 do not receive adequate medical care, according to a report recently released by the National Research Council and the Institute of Medicine, the AP/Arizona Daily Star reports. Syracuse Returns to the Sheet for CHA Action
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - After 34 days from the the last whistle at Mercyhurst on December 6, the Syracuse women's ice hockey team is ready to host its first action in 2009. The Orange welcomes Robert Morris for a two-game conference set on Friday, January 9 at 7 pm and Saturday, January 10 at 2 pm. The Orange - Colonials matchup will be the first action at Tennity Pavilion since Syracuse hosted Mercyhurst on November 14th and 15th. SU's January slate is chock-full of CHA combat. Following its two-game home stint, the Orange travels to Niagara University for the first showdown between the two schools on Saturday, January 17th and Sunday, January 18th. Both tilts are scheduled for 2pm. After the Western New York swing, SU returns home for two consecutive weekends of Orange hockey at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Women`s Access To Donated Kidneys Declines With Age, Particularly Compared With Men
Younger women have equivalent access to kidney transplants compared with their male counterparts, but older women receive transplants much less frequently than older men, according to a study appearing in the March 2009 issue of the Journal of the American Society Nephrology (JASN). The results suggest that steps are needed to ensure that women are provided with equal opportunities to receive kidney transplants as they age.
