CINCINNATI, OHIO - After trailing by as much as 16 points, the Orange (13-3, 2-1) battled back in a contest that featured eight lead changes for a thrilling one-point victory, 71-70, at Cincinnati on Saturday night at the Fifth Third Arena. Senior guard Chandrea Jones was sent to the line with seven seconds on the clock as she buried the front end of the one-and-one to ice the game. Junior forward Juanita Ward led the Syracuse scoring charge with 18 points behind 7-of-11 from the field while junior forward Nicole Michael accounted for 16 points and six rebounds. Jones scored 12 points with four rebounds while sophomore guard Erica Morrow put forth a great defensive effort with four steals and two blocks, including a timely stop on UC's end in the final moments of the contest. SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse powerplay unit erupted against Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon, scoring two goals on five extra-man opportunities, marking the first time SU's scored two powerplay tallies since the Orange took on Wayne State on November 21. Syracuse and Robert Morris duked it out to a 2-2 overtime draw, which is the first tie and overtime affair for the Orange, 17 games into its inaugural season. Freshman winger Janelle Malcolm (Edmonton, Alberta) scored the go-ahead goal for Syracuse late in the first period in addition to an assist on SU's first goal a few minutes prior. It is the second time Malcolm has recorded one goal and one assist in a game, third two-point game overall, and her first-career powerplay goal.
