Syracuse Secures CHA Point with 1-1 Tie at Niagara
NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's ice hockey team (3-13-2) skated to its second consecutive draw on Saturday afternoon when the Orange and first-time conference foe Niagara (4-16-3) capped off a 1-1 65 minute affair at Dwyer Arena. Syracuse held the Purple Eagles to only 12 total shots which is the lowest shot total the Orange defense has allowed this season. The tie locked up Syracuse's second point in the CHA standings. Syracuse Fights Off #12/13 Fighting Irish for 93-74 Triumph
With 30,021 Orange fans packed into the Carrier Dome, the largest crowd of any college basketball game this season, Syracuse fought of the Fighting Irish for a 93-74 victory. Six Orange men totaled double-digit points with junior Arinze Onuaku posting a team-leading 19. Sophomore Jonny Flynn and junior Eric Devendorf recorded 17 and 16 points, respectively, with Flynn contributing nine assists. Junior Paul Harris was fourth on the team with 15 points and sophomore Rick Jackson had 14. The pair both had double-doubles after also pulling down 10 boards each. Junior Andy Rautins rounded out the top scorers for the Orange with 10 points.

$825B Economic Stimulus Plan Unveiled
Yesterday House Democrats and President-elect Barack Obama's economic team released the details of a proposed $825 billion economic recovery plan that includes a sizable chunk of funds for Renewable energy. As proposed, legislation would provide $20 billion in tax cuts for alternative energy including a multiyear extension of the production tax credit for wind, geothermal, hydro power and bioenergy.

Inauguration Day Caps Students` Efforts
Teens Alyssa Roberts and Olivia Rudeen started a Students for Obama club in their Centennial, Colo., high school and even produced a video encouraging their fellow students to ask their parents to vote early. Their efforts paid off, and now they're going to D.C. for the inauguration.

Johnson Closes on More Offers
Defensive back Dontae Johnson started off quick in recruiting, fielding three written offers, however lately things have slowed down a bit on that front. Two schools are currently talking to him about extending offers at the end of the month and he is still hearing from a vast amount of programs from around the country.
