Transcendental Meditation buffers students against college stress: Study
(Maharishi University of Management) This first random assignment study on college students, conducted at American University, looked at the effects of meditation practice on brain and physiological functioning. After 10 weeks of regular practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique, students reported less sleepiness, habituated quicker to a stressful stimulus, and measured higher on a brain integration scale than non-meditating controls. Transcendental Meditation may be an effective non-medicinal tool to help students buffer themselves against the stresses of college life.
