Many New York baseball fans are unhappy with Omar Minaya, but Fred Wilpon is not one of them. The Mets owner told reporters at a Manhattan event Monday that the GM treated ousted manager Willie Randolph 'respectfully,' and that Minaya's job is secure.

Hornets G Rasual Butler faces gun charge (AP)
New Orleans Hornets guard Rasual Butler has been charged with flashing a loaded gun near a South Florida nightclub. A witness told investigators that Butler pulled out a gun near a South Beach club early Monday, according to a Miami Beach police report. Butler was sitting in an SUV when officers arrived and found a loaded gun in the vehicle.

After the tears of joy dried, Todd Therrien advised Xavier Ramos to take care of some serious business. Therrien, the coach at St. Bonaventure (Ventura, Calif.), told Ramos, a rising senior linebacker, to do the classy thing. He told Ramos, who had just happily accepted a written scholarship offer from Oregon, to call his other suitors -- Arizona, Army, Wyoming and others -- to tell them that he was off the market.

Bush told a gathering at the White House's east garden that the Mercury brought 'new glory' to women's athletics.
