Dallas Mavericks’ Antoine Wright hopes to stay consistent
By JEFF CAPLAN After 13 games in which Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle chose not to play him, one game in which he wasn’t even active and three missed because of injury, Antoine Wright finally seems to have this starting thing under control.And now the fourth-year shooting guard has more competition coming from Matt Carroll, acquired Friday in a trade. If Wright remains consistent, he’ll have no reason to worry.'This is what we had hoped he could do,' Carlisle said.Wright is expected to make his eighth consecutive start today at Philadelphia. He’s coming off two consecutive games of playing at least 34 minutes. He’s scored in double figures in four of the past seven games and is averaging nearly four rebounds in the past four games.'He’s consistent when he understands what his role is,' said Jason Kidd, Wright’s teammate his entire career.'He is a guy who can slash, defend and he’ll run.
