MIAMI -- Eddie House scored 20 points _ more than he'd managed in any game this season _ in the second quarter, finishing with 25 and the Boston Celtics ran their winning streak to six games by downing the Miami Heat 98-83 on Wednesday night.

David Lee, who along with Tim Thomas was faced with trying to guard the much-larger Shaquille O'Neal, led the Knicks with 25 points and 16 rebounds against the Suns on Wednesday. And that came with Lee suffering from an ankle injury. He finished 12-of-21 from the field and showed no ill effects of the injury.

He dislocated the toe during the second quarter of the Cowboys? 34-9 Thanksgiving Day win over Seattle. He didn?t play the following week against Pittsburgh. He had limited play the remainder of the season. Rookie Tashard Choice received the majority of the backfield work in Barber?s absence.Despite the injury, Barber finished as the team leading rusher with 885 yards on 238 carries and seven touchdowns. Choice rushed for 472 yards and two touchdowns. Flyers C Danny Briere will miss another two weeks because of lingering discomfort in his groin and stomach area. He will have exploratory surgery Thursday. Briere has played only nine games this season and just finished a three-game minor league conditioning stint with Philadelphia's AHL affiliate. Briere had surgery Oct. 25 on a torn abdominal muscle and left a Dec. 2 game against Tampa Bay with a groin injury. He hasn't played for the Flyers since. He has five goals and nine points with the Flyers.

Special teams standout Montell Owens signed a contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday. Owens, an undrafted rookie from Maine who made the roster in 2006, was captain of the special teams unit last season. He has a team-high 45 special teams tackles over the last three years. The 5-foot-10, 225-pound Owens also served as a backup fullback. He finished the year with three touchdowns: two rushing and a fumble return for a score.
