Kings C Anze Kopitar scored and added an assist on Jack Johnson's goal in the third consecutive loss for the fading Kings on Sunday against the Blackhawks. Kopitar's goal, with 41 seconds left in the period, withstood a video review and narrowed the Kings' deficit to 3-2. Blackhawks goalie Antti Niemi got a piece of Teddy Purcell's initial shot, then Kopitar swept the loose puck across the goal line as the net was knocked off its moorings. The goal stood because Kopitar was shoved into the post by Chicago's Martin Havlat.

Chicago rookie goalie Antti Niemi made 22 saves in his first NHL start to give the Blackhawks a 4-2 win over the Kings on Sunday. Niemi made his NHL debut on Friday, when he relieved Cristobal Huet to start the third period of an overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

Kings G Jonathan Quick made 34 saves against the Blackhawks on Sunday but allowed four goals to get past him in a 4-2 loss. The loss drops Quick's overall record on the season to 13-10-1. He was boasting a 2.49 GAA before the game, a number which took a small hike thanks to giving up four goals.
