Crawford looking for bounce-back year
From the The Sports Xchange: After the first real down season of his career, LF Carl Crawford is determined to regain his groove. 'Physically I was beat up, but it was tough on me mentally, too,' Crawford said. 'Just knowing people are looking at you saying, 'What's wrong with him?' Giving you that look that you don't like because you know what they're thinking. It was definitely a humbling experience. Baseball is humbling enough without having to play hurt. So now I don't take anything for granted. Nothing is guaranteed. I definitely look at everything a whole lot different now.'

O`s want Guthrie back from WBC early
From the The Sports Xchange: Jeremy Guthrie wouldn't be the ace on most teams. In Baltimore, he is the clear-cut No. 1 starter. While his status in the starting rotation might come by default, Guthrie brings a steadying force to a staff in need of direction. Guthrie, who recently was asked by the club to return from the World Baseball Classic to begin preparing for the 2009 season, will face the likes of C.C. Sabathia, Josh Beckett, Roy Halladay and James Shields with regularity in his third full season with the Orioles. Guthrie, who allowed six runs and seven hits in 1 2/3 innings of Team USA's loss to Venezuela, wasn't scheduled to pitch again in the World Baseball Classic, so the Orioles requested he return to Fort Lauderdale. He still must work with new catcher Gregg Zaun to establish a rapport.
