Dallas Cowboys’ Phillips finally able to break his silence By CHAREAN WILLIAMS DANA POINT, Calif. — Wade Phillips has something to say: He hasn’t been heard from because he didn’t have anything to say.Phillips broke his silence at the NFL owners meetings this week, speaking to the media for the first time since Dec. 29, the day after the 2008 season ended. 'I didn’t have anything to say,' Phillips said Tuesday at the St. Regis Resort. 'I’ve been a little disappointed that things have come out that we felt like weren’t true at all, and if you start talking about those things, then it’s a he-said, she-said. I don’t like to go into all that, but I was disappointed in some of the reporting that we felt like wasn’t accurate about our football team and what happened. We were certainly disappointed we didn’t win enough, but it got carried away, in my opinion, and there’s no use talking about it, in my opinion.'Owner Jerry Jones had ordered the coaching staff not to speak to the media. Star TelegramArenas focusing on Sat. return Gilbert Arenas practiced Tuesday and remains on course to make his Washington Wizards season debut against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday. 'The plan was Saturday, and we're still working towards that end,' interim coach Ed Tapscott said. 'As we've got it planned out right now, he's going to play in selective games and no back-to-backs. As we work through the process of making sure that, as he comes back, we do it in a way that is beneficial to his health and our team development.' The three-time All-Star offered various comeback scenarios in several different interviews Monday, including the possibility that he will play in only five of the Wizards' final nine games - the four home games plus the April 8 game at Cleveland. Arenas did not speak to reporters Tuesday. 'He was unbelievable out there today just making the plays he normally makes,' swingman Caron Butler said after practice. 'He hasn't missed a beat. Gilbert looked good out there. He looked real sharp. Jeter received a loud ovation from fans at George M. Steinbrenner Field when he batted for the first time in the first inning. He went 1-for-2 with a walk and played seven innings in the Yankees' 7-1 win over the Red Sox. 'It's important he's here,' New York manager Joe Girardi said. 'It's really exciting. It's important to come together as a team.'
