Byrd will man center field in Hamilton’s absence
By ANTHONY ANDRO ARLINGTON — Andruw Jones might have 10 Gold Gloves, but he won’t be playing center field in the absence of Josh Hamilton. Those duties will go to Marlon Byrd, who started in center Tuesday night while Hamilton rested. 'This is my call,' manager Ron Washington said.Jones started in left field for the second consecutive game Tuesday. Everything hurts.'Meister started Hamilton on a new medication Tuesday, and general manager Jon Daniels said it normally takes about 48 hours to determine whether the medicine is working. Daniels said the Rangers will take a day-by-day approach with Hamilton.Marlon Byrd started Tuesday in center for Hamilton, who was hurt crashing into the wall in Toronto last Tuesday. Cockerill rules Corry out of Heineken Cup semi-final
Martin Corry, who knows a thing or two about the big occasion having performed in half a dozen Lions Tests and a World Cup final, will not be featuring in this weekend's prime piece of rugby business: the Heineken Cup semi-final between his club, Leicester, and Cardiff Blues at the Millennium Stadium. The former England captain has played precious little rugby of late, partly through suspension and partly through injury, and as a result, the Tigers head coach, Richard Cockerill, has given him the thumbs down.
