The Arizona Republic reports that Diamondbacks 1B Josh Whitesell, who started for the fourth consecutive game Saturday, has not been named the full-time starter over Chad A. Tracy just yet. 'To name a starter, I don't think that's fair to either Whitesell or Tracy at this point,' manager A.J. Hinch said. 'I believe in both of them, and we're going to use both of them. We'll evaluate it based on a lot of different things, certainly matchups and when they start to catch their rhythm. And we'll play the hot hand.'

With the offense still failing to generate runs, the A.J. Hinch era in Arizona is looking very similar to Bob Melvin's. The Diamondbacks again look to break out of their offensive funk and win their first game for their new manager Sunday in the finale of a three-game series against the Washington Nationals, who are seeking their first sweep at Chase Field in five years. Arizona (12-19) fired Melvin on Thursday after his underachieving team got off to a disappointing start.
