Holland expects to throw Yankees a curve tonight By ANTHONY ANDRO ARLINGTON — Texas Rangers baseball fans are going to see something tonight from left-handed pitcher Derek Holland that no one has seen from him since he played college ball.Holland plans on throwing a curveball tonight for the first time since he was pitching for Wallace State Community College in Alabama in 2006.'This will be the first curveball,' Holland said. 'I’ve been using it a little more and working on it on the side. I have confidence in it right now, and that’s all that matters. I’m confident in what I’m bringing to the table.'Holland went 5 2/3 innings in his first big league start Friday in Houston, but he didn’t figure in the decision. He threw 80 pitches, and manager Ron Washington said his pitch count Wednesday will be around 100.Holland (1-1, 4.82 ERA) said he’s better prepared for this start mentally and physically.
