FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - A slimmed-down Beanie Wells arrived at the Arizona Cardinals training camp in the wee hours on Saturday and set his sights on winning the starting running back job by the time the season begins....

Cribbs unsure of status with Browns
Cleveland kick specialist Josh Cribbs, who wants the Browns give him a new contract, came to camp but didn't seem certain he would stay. Cribbs, with four years remaining on a six-year, $6.7 million deal, skipped the team's voluntary workouts in May. 'I can't make a prediction on how it's going to work out,' said Cribbs, a Pro Bowl pick in 2007. 'Hopefully something will be reached before the season starts. My only leverage is my heart to this team, what I've been giving to this team thus far.'

Wilfork uncertain of future in N.E.
New England Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork says he won't let his contract dispute with the team affect his play on the field. Wilfork is in the last year of a six-year contract. He says his future with the Patriots is 'out of my control.' Wilfork's salary could reach about $2.2 million with incentives this season. But he's considered vastly underpaid by NFL standards. He says the last thing he wants to do is to go onto the field upset with the situation. He says then his teammates wouldn't be able to trust him to do his job and he doesn't want to put them in that position.

Cameron expects bigger things from Ravens O in `09
Cam Cameron worked for years to become an NFL head coach, then lost his coveted job after one horrid season with the Miami Dolphins. 'Every player or coach in this business, you get stung,' Cameron said of his dismissal after Miami went 1-15 in 2007. 'That's just the way this business is.' Fortunately for Cameron, the Baltimore Ravens appreciated his value as an offensive strategist.

Matusz to start at Detroit Tuesday?
With Brad Bergesen going on the disabled list, Baltimore will need to recall a starter to make Tuesday's start against the Tigers in Detroit. The Baltimore Sun reported that Baltimore is giving heavy consideration to recalling last year's first-round draft pick Brian Matusz, pitching at Double-A Bowie in his first professional season. If Matusz was to get the start, he would have to leave Saturday's Double-A start against New Britain early and he did just that. Matusz was removed after one scoreless inning.

Eyeing trade watch
Today may not match Opening Day or the start of the postseason in excitement or significance, but it still could go a long way toward deciding if the Red Sox will win it all this season.

Schobel working hard in camp
Buffalo Bills defensive end Aaron Schobel admits he's getting old, but the Bills would love to just have the old Schobel back. 'It's just so good to have him,' head coach Dick Jauron said. 'That skill level is impossible to teach. You can't teach a guy some of the things that he does so naturally and that top pass rushers do so naturally. So it's nice to have him back on the field and working to get ready for the season.' Schobel wasn't on the field very often last year for the Bills. The former Pro Bowl pass-rushing specialist sustained a serious foot injury that limited him to just five games. Schobel never missed a contest in his first seven years in the league. His return to Pro Bowl form is paramount to the Bills' defense, which last season amassed only 24 sacks, fourth-fewest in the league. With his gruff exterior in tow, Schobel, the second-leading sack producer in team history, has worked harder this training camp because of the lost time. The extra load has burdened him with s

Falcons Pro Bowl WR White no-show at camp
Pro Bowl receiver Roddy White has not reported for the first workout of the Atlanta Falcons' training camp in an apparent contract holdout. White is coming off a career-best season after helping Atlanta earn a surprising wild-card playoff spot with an 11-5 record. He has been seeking a new multiyear deal that would raise his salary to match those of the higher contracts of NFL wideouts.
