The Chicago Cubs have placed right-hander Carlos Zambrano on the 15-day disabled list a day after he was scratched from his start with muscle spasms in his back. The team recalled righty Jeff Stevens from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday. It's Zambrano's second trip to the disabled list this season. He was out in May with a left hamstring strain. Broxton can`t get the job done
The usually reliable RP Jonathan Broxton was responsible for costing Dodgers SP Chad Billingsley a win during Friday's game against the Braves. Billingsley, who left his previous start against Atlanta Sunday with a hamstring cramp, allowed just two runs (one earned) in six innings Friday. He left with a 5-2 lead and Los Angeles clinged to a one-run lead heading into the ninth. Broxton issued a one-out walk to Nate McLouth, who then advanced to second on a stolen base. Broxton struck out Martin Prado before Garret Anderson poked a RBI single to right field. Broxton ended the inning on a grounder to first, but the damage was already done. Billingsley allowed just four hits and three walks while striking out three.

Billingsley suffers hammy strain
The usually reliable RP Jonathan Broxton was responsible for costing Dodgers SP Chad Billingsley a win during Friday's game against the Braves, but that wasn't the worst of the news for the team's ace. Billingsley, who left his previous start against Atlanta Sunday with a hamstring cramp, lasted only 78 pitches because of a mild left hamstring strain, which occurred when he left the batter's box on a single in the sixth. As he was warming up to pitch in the seventh, he took one practice pitch before walking off the hill in disgust. He then sat down on the bench for a brief period before heading for the locker room. Nothing goes to plan for Dodgers
On a night that didn't make sense on so many fronts - Jonathan Broxton blew a save in the ninth after a fan ran onto the field and upset his rhythm, Chad Billingsley hurt his hamstring running out a single and the Dodgers took advantage of a bizarre umpiring sequence in the fifth inning with a three-run homer - Scott Elbert coming into a game two days before he was scheduled to start was just the latest head-scratcher.
