Texas Rangers’ Scott Feldman finally hits bump on the road
By JEFF WILSON OAKLAND, Calif. — No pitcher in Texas Rangers history has ever had the road success that Scott Feldman has experienced this season. The right-hander entered Thursday with victories in eight consecutive road starts and 12 wins away from home. His ERA in 15 road games was a tidy 2.58.But his run of success came to an end at McAfee Coliseum when he couldn’t throw a strike, or get one called, over a frustrating 3 1/3 innings in the Rangers’ 12-3 loss to Oakland.Feldman (17-6) matched his career-high for walks with five, and allowed seven runs on seven hits. The game turned, though, with the Rangers leading 2-0 in the third inning.A 3-2 pitch to Daric Barton just missed with two outs and the bases loaded. The walk brought in the first of four A’s runs in the inning, and Feldman was visibly upset when Chuck Meriwether didn’t give him the outside corner on a pitch he badly wanted.'That’s a good way to describe it,' Feldman said. Reds 4, Pirates 1
The Reds and Pirates played before one of the smallest crowds in PNC Park history Thursday, when downtown Pittsburgh was virtually empty because of the G-20 summit. The paid attendance was 15,892 - well above PNC Park's all-time low of 8,201 on April 25, 2007, for an Astros-Pirates game - but the actual turnout was about 3,000.

Lions want to beat Redskins and avoid 20-game skid
Calvin Johnson should have a lot to be happy about. The Detroit Lions wide receiver has talent almost any football player on the planet would love to have and he's making millions of dollars to play a game he loves. The problem: Johnson's mood is marred by playing for a franchise that has matched the second-longest losing streak in NFL history, dating to the 2007 season when he was a rookie. 'I can't get used to losing 19 in a row,' Johnson said in front of his locker after a recent practice.

Scott: Jets might defend Johnson even on sideline
The New York Jets plan to pay very close attention to Tennessee running back Chris Johnson on Sunday. They'll send one or maybe even two defenders if he tries to line up wide. 'We might guard him on the sideline, too, just in case,' Jets linebacker Bart Scott joked. Good move, considering the huge game Johnson just turned in. He became the first player in NFL history to rush for a touchdown of longer than 90 yards, another for more than 50 yards, and a TD catch longer than 60 yards.

Blackout: Redskins-Lions game won`t be on local TV
The Detroit Lions failed to sell all their tickets for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, meaning there will be a TV blackout in some local markets. Lions spokesman Bill Keenist said Thursday the game will be blacked out in the Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw-Flint and Toledo, Ohio, markets. More than 10,000-plus tickets were available on Wednesday. The Lions have lost 19 games in a row, matching the second-longest skid in NFL history.

Steelers try to win 9th in a row in Cincy
Former Southern California linebacker Rey Maualuga knows firsthand about that storied rivalry with Notre Dame. USC-UCLA? Been there, felt that. Games against Ohio State? Some of the most fun. What about the history behind his next rivalry game, the one that involves his Bengals and the Steelers? The rookie isn't clued in about that one yet. 'I've still got to do my research,' he said.

Jets ready to contain Johnson
The New York Jets plan to pay very close attention to Tennessee RB Chris Johnson on Sunday. Good move, considering the huge game Johnson just turned in. He became the first player in NFL history to rush for a touchdown of longer than 90 yards, another for more than 50 yards, and a TD catch longer than 60 yards. Johnson set a career-high with 197 yards rushing and 87 yards receiving on 25 touches for 284 yards total, second in franchise history only to Billy Cannon's 330 yards on Dec. 10, 1961, against the then-New York Titans. Johnson's 91-yard TD run tied the longest rush in franchise history, a mark set by Sid Blanks on Dec. 13, 1964, against the renamed Jets. Now, Johnson gets to face the Jets again, and this is a bad matchup for him. Johnson is the CBSSports.com Sit of the Week.
