Brady, Patriots deal with lackluster 3-2 start
Tom Brady launched a long pass to Randy Moss that was too long. He threw a short pass and hit an open Wes Welker - in the foot. Later in last Sunday's game, Brady tried to stage a go-ahead drive in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter but lost a fumble when he was sacked and the New England Patriots lost to the Denver Broncos 20-17 in overtime. The quarterback known for his comebacks hasn't regained his form after a knee injury ended his 2008 season in the first game.

J.R. on tuneup mission
As if preseason practices weren't important enough, they are even more so this year for Nuggets guard J.R. Smith.

Broncos, Bengals, Saints are for real
The 2008 version of the Denver Broncos lost their final three games, blew the AFC West title, and got their longtime coach canned. Last year's New Orleans Saints were wonderful to behold when they had the ball, hideous to watch on defense. And the '08 Cincinnati Bengals were like most previous incarnations: an also-ran almost from the get-go. Now, meet three true contenders for playoff berths. And maybe even success in January. Yep, the Broncos, Saints and Bengals are no flukes.

Cutler, Ryan add passing balance to Bears, Falcons
Jay Cutler and matt ryan have quickly passed their way into the records of two franchises known for running the ball. Cutler has a 100-plus quarterback rating in three straight games, a first for the Chicago Bears in 45 years - since Rudy Bukich in 1964. In his first season with the Bears (3-1) following a trade from Denver, Cutler has completed 64.3 percent of his passes, which would set a Chicago record.

Marshall bounces back from offseason of discontent
Josh McDaniels' tough love apparently has done the trick. Denver Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall, whose temper tantrum at training camp drew a nine-day suspension, is back to being his Pro Bowl self. In the last two weeks, Marshall, showing his head is clear and his hip is healed, has caught two big touchdown passes to help the unbeaten Broncos defeat Dallas and New England, respectively.

Sproles simply a stud vs. Denver in `08
Chargers RB Darren Sproles takes on the Broncos on Monday Night Football in Week 6, and he will be hoping he can get enough touches to replicate his stellar outings against Denver last season. In their first meeting in 2008, Sproles totaled 125 yards and a touchdown, while in their second game he managed 132 yards and two touchdowns.

San Diego Chargers Inside Slant
Does the Emperor -- in this case, the Chargers -- have no clothes? Strange that such a notion is being considered, but the Chargers have gone from being part of the Super Bowl chatter to a super disappointment. That can all change starting Monday night, when the Chargers entertain the Denver Broncos. Yep, the 5-0 Broncos, who are leaving their AFC West brethren -- including the Chargers -- in the dust.

Denver Broncos Strategy and Personnel
With Brandon Marshall fully integrated into the offense, Eddie Royal re-emerging and Jabar Gaffney playing solidly in an offense he knows well, Brandon Stokley hasn't seen a whole lot of playing time lately. Stokley, who has also been slowed by a thigh injury, has played only a few plays in each of Denver's games the past few weeks.
FOX Sports

Cincinnati Bengals Strategy and Personnel
Evan Mathis has officially moved up to first team on the depth chart at left guard. He replaced an injured Nate Livings during the second quarter of the season opener against Denver and has started the last three games. Livings has been healthy the last two weeks, but has not been able to regain his spot. David Jones and Morgan Trent continue to vie for time at the third cornerback spot.
