Unheraled Austin sets Cowboys receiving mark
Miles Austin did more than keep the Dallas Cowboys from having a miserable bye week with a record-setting performance in his first NFL start. His 10 catches for a team-record 250 yards and two late touchdowns at Kansas City, including a 60-yarder in overtime, kept Dallas (3-2) from taking a losing record into its break this weekend. The fourth-year undrafted receiver from tiny Monmouth College in New Jersey also surpassed the 2009 season totals of Terrell Owens and Roy Williams - in one game.

Brady, Patriots deal with lackluster 3-2 start
Tom Brady launched a long pass to Randy Moss that was too long. He threw a short pass and hit an open Wes Welker - in the foot. Later in last Sunday's game, Brady tried to stage a go-ahead drive in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter but lost a fumble when he was sacked and the New England Patriots lost to the Denver Broncos 20-17 in overtime. The quarterback known for his comebacks hasn't regained his form after a knee injury ended his 2008 season in the first game.

Jones said that was never going to be the case. He said Phillips was going to be the coach win or lose in Kansas City.'Yes,' Jones said. 'He would be and without equivocation.'Jones did acknowledge that Phillips’ contract is up after this season, but he has an option to bring him back in 2010.Jones

Maryland counting on young forwards
Padgett, Williams will bring much-needed size to Terps When the 2008-09 season ended, Maryland men's basketball coach Gary Williams couldn't help but think ahead to when his undersized team would have enough height to compete 'two feet over the rim.' That time has arrived - or so Williams hopes. Freshman Jordan Williams (left) is nearly 6 feet 10 and weighs about 260 pounds. His roommate, freshman James Padgett, is 6-8 and weighs about 225.
