Micron technology, one of the world's largest DRAM (dynamic RAM) chip makers, is in talks with Taiwan's Nanya Technology to research new chip technology and jointly invest in a state-of-the-art chip factory.

Intel has settled on a new brand name for its family of low-power processors, which formerly were referred to by the code names 'Silverthorne' and 'Diamondville.' Now dubbed 'Atom,' the new processors will find their way into low-power mobile Internet devices and ultra low-cost computers. Intel also announced the Intel Centrino Atom processor technology brand for MID platforms.

'In a demonstration at the University of Tokyo last week, 60 everyday items -- including a potted begonia, CD, hammer and cellphone -- were programmed into the Cyber Goggle memory. As the demonstrator walked around the room viewing and recording the various objects, the names of the items appeared on the goggle screen.
