AirPort update fixes audio issues, stability in 10.4 Apple on Friday offered the AirPort Exteme Update 2008-002, which the company is recommending for all Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger. The update notes that it improves overall reliability of AirPort connections between the computer and the Base Station, but also claims it resolves several compatibility issues with audio application... macnn.com Saturday, July 26, 2008
Cloud Computing: When Computers Really Do RuleIn the nightmare scenario of Luddites everywhere, The Computers have been entrusted with mankind's accumulated knowledge. All is well until that fateful day when the machines band together, creating a mammoth, all-powerful, living network that thinks, grows and takes over the Earth. Think 'The Terminator' or 'Colossus: The Forbin Project.' TechNewsWorld Saturday, July 26, 2008
Bootleg Tron 2 Trailer Is Out In the WildAn anonymous reader writes 'Gizmodo and Filmstalker are showing the Tron 2 (aka Tr2n) teaser from Comic-Con 08. From the Giz article: 'It's a tiny bootleg video, but I don't care. You can see that the 3D looks amazing, the new lightcycles are stunning (and move like real bikes), the world and the whole mood is Batman-like dark. And Jeff Bridges ... well, he is Jeff Bridges. What can I say, he looks like a badass version of The Dude. 'It's just a game!' he shouts. No, it's not. It's Tr2n. At last. Note: excuse the excitement, but I saw the original in the movie theater, and 200 times after that. With War Games, it's what got me into technology when I was a kid, and ultimately here in Giz. The only thing that has me worried is that the characters in the computer world are fully 3D.'' of this story at Slashdot. Slashdot Saturday, July 26, 2008
Second Mac Clone Maker Set To Sell, With a TwistCWmike writes 'Another company is preparing to sell Intel-based computers that can run Apple's Mac OS X. But unlike Psystar, a Florida clone maker that's been sued by Apple, Open Tech won't pre-install the operating system on its machines. Open Tech's Home (equipped with an Intel dual-core Pentium processor, 3GB of memory, an nVidia GeForce 8600 CT video card and a 500GB hard drive) and XT (which includes an Intel Core 2 quad-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, an nVidia GeForce 8800 video card and a 640GB drive) machines will sell for $620 and $1,200, respectively. Open Tech is prepared to do battle with Apple if it comes after Open Tech. 'We definitely would defend this,' said [Open Tech spokesman] Tom. 'The only possible case that Apple can make, the only one that has any chance, would be based on the end-user licensing agreement.'' of this story at Slashdot. Slashdot Saturday, July 26, 2008
