On the road: Mazda6 2.2 tS2
It's beginning to get very difficult to crash a car. People still do it, of course, and in large numbers, but the manufacturers are not making it easy. Just to dent one of the current crop of safety-conscious cars would require a destructive imagination or strong alcohol and sleep deprivation. And if you wanted to total the thing, you'd probably have to redefine the concept of recklessness and do something like compose text messages while driving in the dark on the M1. But what kind of fool would try that?Even rolling a car over demands far more effort from the contemporary driver. A mass of tests and trials, computer simulations, technological advances and competitive adaptations mean that modern cars enjoy a more adhesive relationship to the road than their more airborne predecessors, so that it's often not enough simply to drive fast and turn the steering wheel in the old-fashioned way.Nor is standard incompetence or failure of hand-eye coordination any more likely to cause serious d

Flip UltraHD Helps Close Video`s Ease of Use, Quality Gap
REVIEW: Pure Digital's latest Flip, the UltraHD, is a good choice for everyday users who just want to capture and share video and don't need lots of bells and whistles. The Flip UltraHD is bigger than its Flip MiniHD sibling, but the UltraHD has more power options and is cheaper, and has some nice features including physical buttons. - During the last few years, there has been a quiet revolution in how people take and consume video: Video has moved from an expensive hobby that was often too complex for casual users to something that is simple for anyone to capture and share. One of the leaders of this revolution has been Pure D...

Apple netbook rumours persist
Those rumours about Apple brewing a cheaper, netbook-style Mac just won't go away. AppleInsider reports again that Apple is 'tailoring changes to a pair of its offerings,' partly in retaliation for a microsoft ad campaign that paints Macs as expensive PCs (did that ever bother Apple before?) and partly make sure it continues to grow market share despite the downturn. (Checkout this 1983 Apple marketing strategy that describes that: 'Macintosh cannot and will not be 'all things to all people'.')A bigger challenge might also be the rise of the netbook - but then any prospect that Apple might lower itself (or its prices) to attract a very different market and ruled out by chief operating officer Tim Cook only last week during Apple's financial results.'When I look at netbooks, I see cramped keyboards, terrible software, junky hardware, very small screens. It's just not a good consumer experience and not something we would put the Mac brand on. It's a segment we would not choose to play in
