(Telecompaper) UK mobile broadband users receive only 24 percent of the advertised speed of services according to a new report from Epitiro. The report is based on nationwide research from an ongoing project that monitors the performance of mobile carriers in terms of actual user experiences. More than 1,300 UK mobile broadband users downloaded at random Epitro's broadband monitoring software with 1.4 million test results from December 2008 until May 2009 being recorded. The research covered broadband activities including internet surfing, downloading, VoIP calling, gaming and watching streamed video. The average download speed achieved with mobile broadband was found to be just under 1 Mbps, while the average mobile broadband ping time (150 msec) exceeded the recommended ceiling (100 msec) for acceptable web-based game playing.
