Microsoft announced Friday charity drive that will donate US$1.15 to charity for every download of internet explorer 8, the latest version of the company's Web browser, though that does include a cap of $1 million. The company is making the offer through a dedicated Web site at browseforthebetter.com.

The NY Times is reporting on the Associated Press's decision to distribute the investigative journalism of four nonprofit groups. This ought to benefit both struggling newspapers, which have cut investigative staff, and the nonprofits where, we can hope, many of those laid-off journalists are plying their trade.
