C&W repeats FY guidance, accelerates Caribbean cost cutting
(Telecompaper) Cable & Wireless' two businesses continued to make progress in its fiscal first quarter, the company said in an interim statement. The Worldwide division is expected to record 30 percent EBITDA growth for the full year while at CWI, lower tourist numbers affected the Caribbean, prompting the company to accelerate its cost reduction programme. C&W reiterated its full year group guidance for an EBITDA at GBP 1.02 million, including GBP 430 million for Worldwide, CWI at USD 935 million and Central at GBP 28 million. Full year capex is still seen at GBP 477 million and cash exceptionals at GBP 137 million. The company booked an exceptional charge of GBP 16 million for exceptional operational programmes, including 'One Caribbean' transformation, the integration of Thus and the restructuring of Worldwide.
