IBM signs OEM, reseller deals with Juniper, Cisco, Brocade
(Telecompaper) IBM has unveiled agreements for networking technology with Brocade, Cisco and Juniper to help businesses more effectively route the enormous amount of data and transactions being driven by an increasingly instrumented, interconnected, and intelligent world. The agreements include a reseller's deal with Cisco for its Nexus 5000 Series Switches, a family of high-performance, low-latency switches for data center networks supporting lossless 10GbE, Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). These products may be ordered immediately and are expected to be available in September of this year. IBM also signed OEM agreements with Brocade and Juniper Networks. IBM has introduced the IBM Converged Switch B32 and 10Gb Converged network Adapter (CNA) for IBM System x, its first Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) offerings, manufactured by Brocade and will will rebrand and sell selected Juniper EX and MX switches and routers. Availability is expected later this year.

Rostelecom, OTEGlobe strike network agreement
(Telecompaper) Russian telecommunications operator Rostelecom has signed a master service agreement with OTEGlobe, international division of Greek national carrier OTE. Under the terms of the deal, Rostelecom will provide OTEGlobe with circuits to any city and location in Russia using its own extensive network or the access to CIS, Baltic and Transcaucasia countries on the basis of partner agreements, as well as transit between Europe and Hong Kong or Europe and Tokyo via the shortest quality route of Transit Europe Asia (TEA). In its turn, Rostelecom will get access to OTEGlobe's network infrastructure in the Balkans and the Mediterranean. The Greek company operates two dual path fibre-optic cable links, the GWEN and the TBN, connecting Greece with Western Europe, through Italy and through the Balkans respectively. BT transfers Irish customers to Vodafone in landmark deal
(Telecompaper) BT and Vodafone have signed a strategic partnership agreement to significantly boost competition and network investment in Ireland. The contract will also result in the creation of an alternative, competitive telecoms network in Ireland. Under the terms of the contract, BT will transfer its consumer and small business broadband and voice customer to Vodafone and will also provide wholesale network services to support Vodafone's business over a 7-year period. The deal will allow BT to focus on becoming the leading provider of networked IT services to medium and large companies and the public sector in Ireland. It also positions Vodafone as the No 2 in Ireland's fixed-line market with over 170,000 fixed customers and a 15 percent share of the fixed broadband market. BT will also commit to providing a platform for delivery of up to 24 Mbps broadband services to around two thirds of Ireland's available broadband lines by unbundling up to 58 additional exchanges. It is a platform where webmasters and bloggers can find an unmatched selection of easy to use, automatically updating and professional news widgets for their sites.
