Trustees might vote on new Mercy hospital
Green Township trustees could vote tonight on a land-use plan for a proposed new hospital by Mercy Health Partners. "We have a rich history of being a good neighbor and working cooperatively with residents and community leaders," said Pete Gemmer, spokesman for Mercy. "We want to be sure the new hospital will be a true asset to the area." Some residents in the area have expressed concerns about increased traffic as a result of the hospital, whose main access road would be from North Bend Road, at roughly the midway point between Kleeman and Boomer. Gemmer said Mercy officials are working with the Hamilton County Engineer's office and Green Township on a traffic impact study. The proposed site is 60 acres. The planned hospital and parking areas would cover about 40 acres and sit near to Interstate 74. The hospital, which would cost $200 million, could open in early 2014.
