(Telecompaper) Vodafone Group reports a 9.3 percent increase in revenues for its first quarter of the financial year 2010 to GBP 10.734 billion, despite a drop of 2.1 percent in organic service revenues. The Group revenue increase including the positive impact of exchange rate movements of 8.6 percentage points and a 3.1 percentage point benefit from merger and acquisition activity, primarily attributable to the additional stake in Vodacom. The drop in organic service revenue was caused by weakness across most of europe and Central Europe resulting from recessionary factors although good growth continued in India, South Africa and Italy. The mobile data revenues grew 19.4 percent, while the fixed broadband customer base grew by more than 200,000 in europe, in line with its strategy. At the same time europe's enterprise revenue declined reflecting the economic pressure on business customers.
