The decline was helped by a change in accounting policy to book customer acquisition costs when incurred, rather than amortise the spending over the life of a customer contract. 3 Italia also saw an end to amortisation on its operating licence after it was made indefinite. The mobile operator posted revenues down 18 percent to HKD 26.38 billion, but up 3 percent in local currency. EBITDA before all customer acquisitions costs was down 34 percent to HKD 8.07 billion, hurt by exchange rate effects and forex gains in the year earlier period. Excluding these effects, the figure was up 10 percent year-on-year. Customers acquisition costs were down 17 percent to HKD 7.89 billion.
