MPs` expenses: Why mole leaked details
The whistleblower who leaked details of MPs' expenses to the Daily Telegraph has claimed he was motivated by anger over the government's failure to provide adequate equipment for British troops.The civilian employee, who has not been named and who was among the staff responsible for processing parliamentary expenses, said he leaked details of the lavish claims after becoming indignant about the discrepancy between investment in the armed forces and the receipts put in by MPs fopr items such as plasma TVs and duck islands.The Daily Telegraph reports that his colleagues at the Stationery Office, where the claims are processed, included serving soldiers who were 'moonlighting' to buy body armour and other vital equipment.It quoted the mole as saying: 'It's not easy to watch footage on the news of a coffin draped in a Union Jack and then come in to work the next day and see on your computer screen what MPs are taking for themselves.'He added: 'They're out in Afghanistan for Queen and coun
