Too many third-party developers take exactly this approach with their multiplatform games, a fact that doesn't necessarily better or worsen the experiences on the similarly powerful PlayStation 3 and xbox 360.

This weekend Suda 51 and Grasshopper are hosting another one of their 'Hoppers' events (every once in a while they put on these parties in Japan where they invite other game industry luminaries -- you may remember the last one where they had Resident Evil's Shinji Mikami and Metal Gear's Hideo Kojima together on stage). Anyway, this next party is to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Grasshopper Manufacture and it should be a fun one. Here's the invitation card they sent out; it's clearly inspired by the two Grindhouse movies. This time, along with 'Mask De Uh' (the guy who Suda talks with in his weekly column in Famitsu magazine, which is often about western games), Suda will be talking about different Western-developed games with special guest Masahiro Sakurai (the main guy behind Smash Bros and Kirby). The last time he invited someone like this they chose a couple of games and played and commented on them live.
